In addition to recital and action dance photography, I also enjoy candids. Capturing the dancers while in their environment is special.
I take several images and put them together in a composite like the above and make it available in many sizes. Customized for each dancer!

Family portraits for the Wert Family in December 2020
You’ve heard me say before how much I love creating family portraits – especially in the Fall

What I love about this family is twofold: I not only photographed them before, but they were brave enough to go out on a chilly and breezy day!

Morgan is a talented dancer that’s wonderfully comfortable in front of a camera for good reason – her mom is also a photographer.
So, you may be asking why am I creating some dance portraits for her? Lots of people (myself included) sometimes find doing things like this for your *own* family challenging at times 🙂
We were also able to create a few group portraits. I love seeing how the dancers work together when creating these portraits!
Ready for me to create some great dance portraits for you or someone you know?
I provide the following dance photography services:
dance portraits (recital or personal/groups)
action photos of dance rehearsals or recitals
candid portraits of dancers at rehearsal
video recording of events and recitals
In need of any of the above or want to find out more information? Please contact me at dave at dabourphoto.com or 908.995.7273
Wedding photos for Cat and Greg after their wedding with her Dad.
You’ve seen Cat and Greg in front of my camera before. I had the pleasure of creating portraits of their engagement and wedding day.
Wedding photos for Cat and Greg after their wedding with her Dad.
Like many wedding over the past 18 months, theirs was impacted by COVID. Not only was it rescheduled twice, but her dad became ill days before her wedding!

Luckily, he had a full recovery. I told Cat on her wedding day that if you both are willing to get back into your wedding day attire, I’ll be happy to create some portraits with you Dad.

We ran a little shot on time during formal photos on her wedding day, so we grabbed a few more!
I loved working with Cat and Greg and look forward to photograph them again in the future!
Justine’s headshot before medical school in June 2021.
Justine’s heading off to medical school and needed an updated head shot. I know she will do great and look forward to creating some graduation photos for her when she’s done!
When was the last time you updated your head shot? Business portraits also available as well as personal branding. Contact me for more details or to setup you session!
I met Keira for the first time in almost complete darkness. I know that sounds strange but when you agree to a sunrise photo session, that’s what happens.
Keira was a natural to work with and extremely comfortable in front of the camera
Once the sun got to work, we transitioned to some Chicago background dance portraits:
Besides the sunrise silhouette, this is one of my favorites from the session!
It was one of those events you remember exactly where you were when it happened. For me I was in all places Los Angeles, CA on a business trip. I had only arrived the evening before, and I typically try to stay on Eastern time for a couple of days if my trip will not be too long. So, I was up early by local time watching the national news on TV. I see one of the World Trade Center towers with smoke coming out of it. The television reporter says no one knows exactly what is going on but the thought is a small plane crashed into the tower. Then as I continue to watch this unfold on live TV, I see a second plane crash into the other tower. It was in the split instance I knew this was no accident and no small plane involved.
Thankfully, I knew of no one directly that lost their lives in this terrorist attack. But I was drawn to follow the news story with interest. Perhaps it was because I originally was a New Yorker. Perhaps it was because I have a cousin that was working in the basement of the same building when a bomb went off years earlier (he was OK).
2011
I used photography to remember what happened. I can’t remember if I photographed the first tribute of light, but I was drawn to it light a moth to a flame. Then I realized it was possible to get close enough to photograph the remembrance I started to do it. I didn’t go yearly. Some years the weather was poor, or my schedule was busy. But it was nice when I was able to go.
2012
I typically go to Liberty State Park in NJ along with thousands of others. On my bucket list is being able to get up close to the lights and photograph them from “within.”
2012 Ghosts
As the years have gone by Liberty State Park added more memorials for everyone to remember what happened.

Although I didn’t create one yet from these sports portraits, I can also create a montage of several photos of a player or even an event. Here’s an example:
