Split Fall Personality

Photo_68C68783-B783-9ED6-031B-6AB97C417023While taking a walk the other day I enjoyed how the top of this maple started turning while the bottom was still green. I was almost as if someone was painting each brand one by one from the top down.

The weather the past few days has been ideal for some fall photography. Add in a few burning bushes alongside a maple tree and a blue sky, and it doesn’t get any better than that!

Hiking With A Snake

OK it wasn’t a big snake. Maybe 12 inches long. I suspect it was a garden snake. It was on the path we were walking on.

Early Fall Color at Merrill Creek

I had the opportunity to take a short photo hike at Merrill Creek this past weekend with my oldest daughter.

The park is starting to show some fall color. The area as a whole is still a week or two behind schedule in my opinion.

Rest of the photos can be seen here.

Lookout Tower

Found right next to the Field House at Spruce Run reservoir in Clinton, NJ

I immediately want to get up to the top to use it as a photography point. But I didn’t see any way to get up there from the two rooms below (which are rest rooms). So I left baffled. Then I read a post on a nearby display area that showed an old drawing. On the drawing was a staircase on the outside on the wall showing in this picture. I guess it either became unsafe from a structure point of view or just plain safety as I’m sure kids would try and hang out up there.

I’ve been to Spruce Run several times but only found this gem on my last visit.

First Glimpse Of Fall

Fall colors this year are a couple of weeks behind schedule thanks to the warm and moist weather of late. Some are starting to show their colors.
