Scenic View

147

I pass by this often but today the weather was great and I wasn’t in a rush so I stopped by for a quick picture. This is the scenic rest area on 78 West just before 287 in New Jersey. This photo is looking SW and taken from my Samsung Focus.

Stormy Weather

A photograph of approaching storm clouds. Within an hour later heavy rain fell upon the area with a few rumbles of thunder as well.

Hello Robin Nest

136

While working on in the back yard this morning (first time in a long while due to weather and schedule), a Robin flew away as I walked by a bush. Upon investigation I found a nest had been established, apparently quite a while ago!

With all the rain we’ve been having this spring, my mom’s pool cover is full! Water is right up to the top!

Easter Rainbow

Rainbow20110424-017

A late day thunderstorm on Eastern night resulted in a brief rainbow on the tail end. I was glad to see others captured similar shots on Facebook.

I had a tense moment while creating these photos. I also had my Flip video camera with me as there was lightening still going on in the area. I placed it on the deck railing and started capturing video as I was taking the stills. I *knew* this was a bad idea when I did it and fate  proved me right. A gust of wind (who knew during a thunderstorm!) came by and knocked my Flip onto the floor. The screen went dark. Upon looking at the front I noticed several small dents on the front of the lens cover. Ouch. I tried to turn it back on to no avail. Thought of “why the heck did I ever place it on that ledge” started racing through my mind followed by the Flip now being manufacture discontinued by Cisco and I may not be able to replace it. I’ve had this for several years. I use it for casual video recording. It’s nice to have when you need/want some quick videos.

When I returned to my home office I took out the batteries and tested them. I knew they would be fine since I just replaced them not too long ago. It was worth a shot. But the lithium batteries were still stronger than ever. I put them back in, said a small prayer, and tried to turn in on again one last time. It worked! But the video I was capturing was gone. I was hoping to view and post the camera being knocked down followed my maybe some snow. But that’s OK it works. So even though they are no longer going to be made, I’m sure you can still pick some up for sale and will be a liquidators I’m sure soon. So I heartedly recommend the Flip for their durability if nothing else!

Frosty Good Friday

114

A cold start to Good Friday 2011. Overnight temperatures fell below freezing. There were frost advisories to the south of me around the Philadelphia metro area. The same were not posted around here as the growing season up here has not officially started yet.

Spring Blooming

POTD113-006

Even though today is much cooler and windier than yesterday, one of my trees out front picked today to open up its blossoms. Pictures against the deep blue sky made for a nice picture in my opinion.

A Sure Sign Of Spring

110-1

Along with rising pollen counts another sure sign of spring is greener grass and streets being cleaned!

Birthday Clean Car

106

Even though my birthday is past, Shammy Shine honored their traditional free wash on your birthday due to two days of non-stop rain. Thanks Shammy Shine!

Today’s weather looks to be spring-tacular with highs in the upper 60’s. Tomorrow will be nice but cooler. And for Saturday? You guessed it – rain and perhaps lots of it Saturday night with windy conditions. Oh boy!! Sad smile
