Creating Magic: My Experience with the Stewartsville Performing Arts Club
I had the pleasure of meeting the incredibly talented cast of the Stewartsville Performing Arts Club (SPAC) as they prepare for their upcoming production of “Lion King Jr” this May. From the moment I walked in, I could feel the excitement and passion that filled the room. It’s not every day that you get to work with such a dedicated group of young performers, and I was thrilled to be a part of their journey.
As a professional photographer, capturing the essence of each cast member through headshots was a truly rewarding experience. The energy, enthusiasm, and commitment these young actors brought to their roles were palpable, and it was an honor to capture their unique personalities and talents.
The cast of the “Lion King Jr” is a remarkable group, and I have no doubt that their performances will captivate audiences. From the regal lions to the playful meerkats, each character came to life in front of my lens.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Stewartsville Performing Arts Club for inviting me to be a part of this special project over the past several years. It was a joy to work with such a talented and passionate group, and I can’t wait to see the final production in May. To the cast and crew of “Lion King Jr,” break a leg and enjoy every moment of this incredible journey!

I’ve known Jess for several years. She’s currently a senior at DelVal and needs an updated head shot for her resume and college auditions for musical theater.
Jessica is a talented actress that can play many roles. One of my favorites was when she played the character of Alice Beinecke at Delaware Valley High School production of ‘Addams Family the Musical.’ The scene she appeared in at the family dinner party was hysterical and very entertaining!

Max is a senior at DelVal High School and a talented actor. He’s been in several High School productions and plans to pursue acting in college. Max needed an updated head shot for a summer intensive he will be attending so he contacted me. Max is currently acting in SKIT’s production of Legally Blonde.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with the Hunterdon Hills Ballet organization for the past several years. Each year they produce a special version of the Nutcracker called the ‘Clinton Nutcracker.’ This of course is very appropriate since they are located near Clinton, New Jersey

In 2024 I had the opportunity to create show photography for their production. I photographed one of their tech rehearsals and two of their productions. I always prefer photographing tech rehearsals as I can control where I photograph more than shows.

Even though I’ve been photographing theater, dance and productions for over 30 years, one thing I learned this year is the importance of not over shooting. I was a little nervous as this was the first time I was photographing a Nutcracker, so I wanted to make sure I captured the moments. I certainly did that but put a lot of stress on storage, my camera and the amount of time needed to cull and edit the photographs. Next year I will curtail.

Capturing dance through photography is important. A dancer works months to achieve a level of excellence that deserves to be captured and preserved. While video also does that, the impact of a still image is stunning.

This is a great show and a wonderful community theater program. I’ve had the privilege of doing photography for them for over 25 years!
Whether its dance, sports, theater or anything else photography or video wise I do for you, it’s time to get on my calendar. My spring 2025 calendar is filling up fast. I’m already running into the situation where I’m already booked when someone inquiries about a date.
