In taking this photo I knew anyone looking at it would say “ok so what’s strange/unusual here?” Fair question. After all its holiday time here in NJ. It’s a house with lights on it that’s average looking. Perhaps the late day lighting? Good possibility.
But the answer lies in the second photo:

Sailors Delight. I think that’s how the old saying goes. No I’m not planning on doing any sailing tonight. This was actually the second sunset photo I took – this one even more red than the first. We had a cold front pass through the area this afternoon. I low pressure is developing along the front and moving NE – just to the south and east of me. This is allowing for a nice sunset.

Perhaps not the most photographic choice but one that I hope to use as a tool for gathering information. There has been a vacant new store at the end of a small strip mall near me. It is finally showing signs of life and I’m wondering if anyone know what is going on there. I’ve posted to Facebook and will also ask around town.
There are prayer groups forming and beads being made hoping beyond hope that it is a book store. One can only hope but personally I think it’s on the small side for such a mighty addition to our township.
As you can see from the photo they are adding a curved feature to the roofline as well as adding height to the roofline at left which I find fascinating as well. There is an interior wall that is up just to the left of the doors that runs near the front to the back – not sure if it is continuous.
Perhaps a better way of looking at this is to make a list of things we don’t want it to be:
Well I’ve been thinking about this for quite a while. I know it’s been a long time since posting to my Photography blog. I’d dare say I’ll make a New Year’s resolution to start blogging more. But I don’t want to wait until New Year’s Day so let me get a jump on this.
I’ve also been thinking about doing one of those “photo a day” or Photo of the Day” types of things.
So why not combine the two! I may not post ever day but I will try, hard, to take a photo each day (at least) and share/port it here. Some days will be easy. I’ll try and limit the number of photo outside my office window! J
So I guess that means I need a photo to start things off. OK I’m already temped to just take a photo of something in my office. I’ll fight to resist the urge. I have an idea. I’ll be right back. There that didn’t take long did it?!
The first photo I had in mind was a nice shot of the Rhododendron that’s out front in my house. I pass it every morning on the way to the newspaper. What a lot of people don’t realize is their leaves respond to the cold. This morning (not now) it was a toasty 12 degrees outside. But I didn’t have a camera with me. I was hoping it would still be cold enough to show the effects but that’s not the case. I’m sure you’ll be seeing that photo soon J.
I call this snow bears. Yes it was an easy one to take being right out front in my yeard. But I like it for two reasons: 1) the snow may not be around that much longer (for now) and 2) I built them a number of years ago.
I’ve been taking pictures since I was a teenager and purchased my first Canon AE-1. I put the camera away when I was in my 20’s but took it out of hibernation in the late 80’s. I stated taking photographs of my oldest daughters theatre group. People were so amazed and the great photos I took and asked me what camera I used. When I told them how old the camera was they were amazed!
The rest has been a nice roller-coaster ride. I started experimenting with digital soon after the technology was released. I would first take my “money” shots with film then start experimenting with digital. That continued and I went through a few cameras until the Canon Digital Rebel cam out. I was in love! LOL I used and abused that camera for quite a while. In fact I still have it. It was my “car trunk” camera until recently. I probably should sell it but feel it will not be worth too much now a days…
